Welcome to Animania's homepage! We are an anime club at the University of Michigan that started in the mid 1980s and are still growing strong today. In addition to being an anime club, Animania holds monthly events that are open and free to the public, including the annual convention that is not a convention, Con Ja Nai!

October 2014 Screening

Has everyone been enjoying the fall colors? Don't let the cold keep you from coming to our screening at North Quad this month! Warm up with our featured food this month: takoyaki! We've also got a couple of mystery and murder shows to get you in the mood for Halloween.

In case you missed it, the Center for Japanese Studies is holding a Studio Ghibli film series this semester! We'll be raffling off tickets to a future screening at the State Theatre. More details are available at CJS's website.

Chiyo Sakura, a high school girl who fell in love with the unrefined boy schoolmate Umetaro Nozaki, decides to be courageous one day and asks him out. Her feelings weren't conveyed properly, and before she knew it she ends up helping a particular job of his as an assistant... The series is a shojo manga boy comedy which centers around Nozaki, a high school boy that is a popular shojo manga artist, and has a story woven by very individualistic characters.

In Tokyo, an impenetrable field known as "Hell's Gate" appeared ten years ago. At the same time, psychics who wield paranormal powers at the cost of their conscience also emerged. Hei is one of the most powerful of these psychic agents, and along with his blind associate, Yin, works for one of the many rival agencies vying to unlock the mysteries of Hell's Gate.

The series takes place in the near future, when it is possible to instantaneously measure and quantify a person's state of mind and personality. This information is recorded and processed, and the term "Psycho-Pass" in the anime's title refers to a standard used to measure an individual's being. The story centers around the "enforcement officer" Shinya Kougami, who is tasked with managing crime in such a world.
